SAFE analyses fatigue using parameters that includes circadian phase, duty characteristics, sleep homeostasis, time zone shifts and workload to allow fatigue predictions and assessments of risk to be made in pairings, rosters and post-event fatigue reports.
SAFE has been trusted by the UKCAA since 1994, and commercial, cargo, ATXO, corporate and HEMS operators for operations as well as unions and regulators to setting regulations, evaluating new roster patterns and collective agreements. In addition to SAFE, CARE is the only biomathematical fatigue model developed and validated for use in cabin crew. Integrated into the same platform, SAFE and CARE enables the identification, quantification and management of the effects of fatigue in aircrew to improve operational performance and aircrew wellbeing.
